A native North Carolinian, Mr. Brooks graduated summa cum laude from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin. At Wake Forest, he was awarded the M.D. Phillips Prize in Classical Languages and inducted into both Phi Beta Kappa and Eta Sigma Phi, the national Latin and Greek honor society. Mr. Brooks received his law degree in 2006 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as an articles editor on the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law.

Before joining Millberg Gordon Stewart, Mr. Brooks was a law clerk to the Honorable Bernice Bouie Donald, then a United States District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee. He also served as an adjunct legal methods instructor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law during the 2010-11 academic year. Prior to clerking for Judge Donald, Mr. Brooks was a law clerk in Nashville, Tennessee, to the Honorable Walter C. Kurtz, first in his capacity as Judge of the Fifth Circuit Court for Davidson County and then in his position as a Senior Judge for the State of Tennessee. While in law school, he externed for the Honorable Thomas A. Wiseman, Jr., Senior United States District Judge for the Middle District of Tennessee, and interned for the Honorable Richard A. Elmore of the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Mr. Brooks is a member of the Tennessee and North Carolina bars. Currently, he serves as an assistant editor of The Young Lawyer, a publication of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.
