
WILLIAM W. ("BILL") STEWART, JR.

Bill was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He left for Mississippi in 1983 to play college football and stayed long enough to get his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor from Mississippi College, where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review.
​
After law school, Bill returned to North Carolina and clerked for the Honorable Franklin T. Dupree, Jr., Senior United States District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina. After his clerkship, Bill joined the firm then know as Millberg & Gordon and has engaged in a civil litigation practice trying cases in North and South Carolina ever since.

In addition to his trial practice, he serves as a Certified Superior Court Mediator in North Carolina and Circuit Court Mediator and Arbitrator in South Carolina.
Bill has handled numerous tort, employment, breach of contract, insurance, and commercial actions in the state and federal courts of North and South Carolina, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has been a lecturer for the North Carolina Highway Patrol and for local law enforcement agencies on the subject of railroad accident investigation. He also frequently speaks to claims and trade organizations on the topics of transportation law, wrongful death litigation, and premises liability. Bill continues to defend companies in tort litigation including premises liability, product defect, and electrocution/electrical contact cases and in lawsuits involving employment matters and liability arising under the Federal Employers' Liability Act.

Bill is married and has three children. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, exercising, and gardening. Bill is a member of Apex Baptist Church in Apex, North Carolina, and serves on the Apex High School Cougar Club Board of Directors.
